2" Thick - 2200°F Refractory (Safer Bioabsorbable) Wool Blanket - 25 sq.ft box

6 items left

SPECIAL SALE - 2200°F Bioabsorbable Blanket is only available at this price while supplies last! (We may have rolls 1.5" thick and partial rolls - call if interested).

A Medium-High Heat 2200°F refractory wool blanket.  The bioabsorbable wool fibres mitigate safety concerns related to inhalation when ceramic wool is used uncoated, especially indoors.  Great for wood-burning installations and as a backup layer in higher-heat applications.

A great refractory for wood-burning stoves, heat-treating ovens, pizza ovens, and aluminum and brass foundry linings, among others.  This wool is sold by the box, containing 25 square feet, 2" thick.

Note: The fibre weave of this BIOABSORBABLE Morgan 'superwool' blanket is not as 'tough' as a traditional ceramic blanket, though in most installations this is a non-issue.

2300°F Blanket - When a slightly higher temperature and tougher weave wool blanket is required. Rolls of 2" thick medium temperature 2300°F Blanket are available (Call if you need a 1" thick 2300°F Blanket).

2600°F Blanket -For steel forge working environments, a 2600°F wool blanket is recommended (instead of a 2200°F blanket, unless in a backup setting).  Both 1" Thick 2600°F& 2" Thick 2600°F (higher temperature) ceramic blanketsare available and are precut to any length.

This 2" wool is sold in rolls of 25 square feet (2' wide x 12.5' long).  (1" thick rolls are typically 50 square ft. (25 linear feet long).

Suitable For:

  • Chimneys.
  • Pizza ovens.
  • Breweries.
  • Farm incinerators.
  • Smelters for melting aluminum, copper, or brass.
  • Heat-treating ovens.
  • Salt baths.
  • Glass kilns.

Installation Considerations, especially in a firebox installation:

1) A wool blanket can be permanently held in place in defiance of gravity with 304 SS weldable wool retention clips.  To aid in installation, temporary spray adhesives can be used to hold the wool blanket in position until it is securely fastened.

2) The blanket can be strengthened and stiffened with silicaRigidizer Spray, making coating it easier, adding durability and preventing compression.

3) Coat with a 3/8"- 1/2'' (or thicker) layer of insulating refractory cement for added insulation & maximum durability. ** KOL 30 Li (G)+, Greenlite 45L (online),

4) Dragon Skin and/or Alien Skin provide options when thinner coatings are needed.

4) Adding a thin coating of ITC-100 HT as the final 'interior layer' will optimize heat reflection and efficiency.  (ITC-100 HT can also be applied directly to rigidized wool for increased performance, it's not a strong covering, but it's easily patched).
