Pre-Krete is a pizza oven floor favorite. It gives an amazingly smooth, dark, waterproof, food-safe surface when cured. It is an aluminous hydraulic cement with many industrial purposes including lining the interior of potable water tanks and heaters. It is very resistant to chemicals, corrosion, and abrasion.
The maximum temperature rating after curing is 1900°F in standard wood-fired conditions (Though it can be affected by some industrial chemicals so its posted rating is only 1000°F, it is much higher in the environments we use it in).
NOTE- G-8 is also available in a custom formulated ultra fine preparation for filling small cracks or smoothing imperfections. Most of it is powder-fine, with a few grains as large as sand near 1.0 mm (most is like flour with a few grains like sand).
Note - for setting firebricks (pizza oven bricks coming this week) I suggest the refractory castable KS-4V which is rated to 2600°F. This is versatile to be used both as a stronger mortar and to fill the wedged gap between regular bricks on a dome as it does not have large aggregate, and is easy to work with.
Talk to Sean about adding products to slow down curing if extra time is required.
