Kast-O-Lite 30 LI+ 3000°F INSULATING Castable Refractory

9 items left

Kast O Lite 30 Li (Low Iron) Plus - is a new generation highly efficient 'Bubble Class' Insulating Castable Refractory.  It's easy to work with and one of our best sellers.  KOL-30-Li+ is a little stronger than most 3000°F Insulating castables at full heat.

Coating KOL-30 (or any refractory) with ITC-100HT adds functional heat tolerance, performance, and efficiency (often by 30%+ making it cost-effective the first week).

KOL-30 is rated to a peak temperature of 3000 °F (well above forge welding heat).  Li is an abbreviation for low iron (0.9%), which is important in some applications.  Its a Hydraulic set, new generation Bubble Class Refractory.

Considered medium strength, its one of the strongest 3000°F insulating castables available.  KOL30 is demanded by many top industrial oilfield applications.  It handles 2000 psi pressure even at max forging temps thanks in part to its high Alumina content.

KOL's has a better strength & temperature properties than comparable mid-density refractories (90-97 lb/ft3) of similar insulation value. (Actually KOL 30 is unique in its profile of 3000°F heat tolerance, Insulation value & Strength.)

It can be used on its own, or as a layer over top of wool (best to toughen up the wool first with our freeze-proof rigidizer to prevent its compression during application), etc.

Features:

Kast O Lite 30 Li Plus is available in 500ml jars, 1 and 2-gallon pails, and 55lb. bag.

AlsoAvailable in a Faster Settingversion: Kast-O-Lite 30 LI G+, in a 55lb bag, a 2-gallon pail, and a 1-gallon pail.

Tip:

Once cured, Kast-O-Lite can be coated with ITC 100 HT to optimize forge efficiency, or with ITC 296A for improved flux resistance.

PARGING Coat Tip:

  • When used as a PARGING COAT on RIGIDIZED Ceramic WOOL, add 1/4 lb SS needles per gallon of KOL,
  • Add water while mixing to a sour cream consistency.
  • Add Dry Refractory to 75% of your water in the mixing pail.
  • Mix up as much as you can apply within 10-15 minutes & repeat until finished.
  • KOL mixes quickly (1-2 min max)

FYI - We have more refractories in stock than we have online.  Occassionally a supplier runs low on a product we usually keep in stock, and if our inventory is low, sometime we find alternatives.  If you get in a pickle send us an email with your project details (support@canadianforge.com) or send Sean a quick text @ 780-974-4309 and he'll call you back promptly (he tries!).
