Kast-O-Lite 30 LI+ 3000°F INSULATING Castable Refractory

Kast O Lite 30 Li (Low Iron) Plus - is a new generation highly efficient 'Bubble Class' Insulating Castable Refractory.  It's easy to work with and one of our best sellers.

High Strength Refractory (approx 2000 psi @ forge heat), High Alumina, Moderate Density (90 lb/ft3), Insulating (new generation bubble class) refractory with low thermal conductivity. 

Rated to 3000 °F (well above forge welding heat).  Low Iron (0.9%) for flux resistance.  Hydraulic set.  

It can be used on its own, or as a layer over top of wool (best to toughen up the wool first with our freeze-proof rigidizer to prevent its compression during application), etc. 

Features:

• KastOLite 30 LI + is a low density castable. with better insulating qualities but less abrasion resistance than medium-density ( KS-4V Plus), and high-density      (Green Kleen 60, Green Cast 94) castables.  Dense Castables can withstand upwards of 10,000 psi, and like dense firebricks (85% Alumina, 3000°F SuperDuty, Super Thin High Density)  but similarly don't insulate as well as light castables (RescoCast 8, KOL30) and Insulating Firebricks (2300°F, 2600°F and 2800°F IFBs).
• The insulating quality of Kastolite 30 LI keeps your forge walls cooler on the outside, and warmer inside.  Used either as hot-face or backup lining applications.

Kast O Lite 30 Li Plus is available in 500ml jars, 1 and 2-gallon pails, and 55lb. bag.

Tip:

Once cured, Kast-O-Lite can be coated with ITC 100 HT to optimize forge efficiency, or with ITC 296A for improved flux resistance.
