Kast-O-Lite 30 LI+ 3000°F INSULATING Castable Refractory

Kast O Lite 30 Li (Low Iron) Plus - is a new generation highly efficient 'Bubble Class' Insulating Castable Refractory.  It's easy to work with and one of our best sellers.  KOL-30-Li+ is a little stronger than most 3000°F Insulating castables at full heat.

An alternate to KOL-30, RESCOCAST-8 is fractionally lighter (and an even better insulator), & a favourite to work with as a 'plaster thin coat' and though rated 200°F less (2800°F) and to 1000 PSI, it too is a brilliant choice for many similar applications.

Coating both products with ITC 100 adds functional heat tolerance, performance and efficiency.  

KOL-30 is rated to peak temperature of 3000 °F (well above forge welding heat).  Li is an abbreviation for low iron (0.9%), which is important in some applications.  Hydraulic set.  

It's a medium Strength Refractory (~2000 psi @ forge heat), High Alumina, Moderate Density (90-97 lb/ft3), Insulating (new generation bubble class) refractory with low thermal conductivity. 

It can be used on its own, or as a layer over top of wool (best to toughen up the wool first with our freeze-proof rigidizer to prevent its compression during application), etc. 

Features:

• KastOLite 30 LI + is an Exceptional low density castable, with good insulating  qualities & strength (less abrasion resistance than medium-density ( KS-4V Plus), and high-density (Mizzou, Ultra Express 70, Versa Flow 60 Plus, Green Cast 94) castables.  Dense Castables can withstand upwards of 10,000 psi, and like dense firebricks (85% Alumina, 3000°F SuperDuty, Super Thin High Density)  but similarly don't insulate as well as light castables (RescoCast 8, KOL30) and Insulating Firebricks (2300°F, and 2800°F IFBs).
• The insulating quality of Kastolite 30 LI keeps your forge walls cooler on the outside, and warmer inside.  Used either as hot-face or backup lining applications.

Kast O Lite 30 Li Plus is available in 500ml jars, 1 and 2-gallon pails, and 55lb. bag.

Tip:

Once cured, Kast-O-Lite can be coated with ITC 100 HT to optimize forge efficiency, or with ITC 296A for improved flux resistance.
