2300°F IFB Insulating Fire Bricks - 9" x 4.5" x 3"

3" Thick Efficient Lightweight IFB (Insulated Fire Brick) 9" x 4.5" x 3",  rated to 2300°F.  Used both as insulation backing and hot face refractory insulation applications (especially when '**FORTIFIED').  Easy to cut & shape.

TIPs: 

• 2300°F IFBs are lighter than 2800° IFBs.  Though a bare 2300°F brick is not designed to sustain 2450°F propane forge temperatures, they insulate better than 2800°F bricks and you can FORTIFY** them when needed for severe service.

• **FORTIFY your 2300°F Bricks - Added Heat Capacity, Abrasion Resistance and Strength:  Coat the hot face of the brick with either Mortar (3100°F)  (i.e., Sairset Mortar, No.36 Mortar, etc.) + a thin topcoat of ITC-100 and turn soft /friable IFBs into abrasion-resistant IFBs with improved thermal capacity.
  

• 3" IFBs are a popular and economical option for heat-treating & tempering ovens.  You have enough depth to router /carve channels in the bricks for heating coils.

These bricks are much more porous, and not as mechanically strong as our high-density bricks. However, they can be stacked dry or set using SAIRSET refractory mortar.  Though they have much less of a heat sink than denser bricks, these can still be coated with ITC 100 HT and benefit from the added efficiency of ITC 100's heat reflection properties.
