These Mid-size nippers (& ICAR Race Nippers), have slightly smaller bite 'depth' than the larger ICAR's 15" & 16". This evens up the mechanics: the shorter 14" handles are easy to close even without the longer reins because they take a smaller bite than the larger nippers.
